NEPAS  ( Northeast  Pennsylvania  Audubon  Society ) offers a variety of environmentally-related scholarships

 

COLLEGE:  The annual $4,000 college scholarship is open to all high school seniors in the NEPAS region (Wayne, Lackawanna, Pike or Susquehanna Counties) who will be attending college full time and majoring in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning/Engineering, Fish/Game/Wildlife Management, Ecology or other Environmental Studies. 

The scholarship is paid directly to the college or university in installments of $1,000 per year.  The DEADLINE for APPLICATIONS is APRIL 30, 2008.

TEACHERS AND ADULT LEADER CONTINUING EDUCATIONNEPAS provides a FULL scholarship for Teachers and Adult Leader Continuing Education sessions provided through the National Audubon SocietyÕs camp at Hog Island, Maine (www.maineaudubon.org) or the Pocono Environmental Education Center (www.peec.org)The DEADLINE for APPLICATIONS is March 15, 2008.

SUMMER CAMPS:  FULL scholarships are being offered to youths of various ages to the following summer camps:  National Audubon Society at Hog Island, Maine (www.maineaudubon.org); Northwoods Stewardship Center, East Charleston, Vermont (www.northwoodscenter.org); Pocono Environmental Education Center (www.peec.org); and Lacawac Sanctuary, Lake Wallenpaupack Area, PA  (www.lacawac.org).  The DEADLINE for APPLICATIONS is March 15, 2008.

FULL Camp Scholarships  Ð  Ages 5 to Adult. Transportation to and from camps is the responsibility of scholarship recipients; however if this is an issue for any potential applicant, please call (570) 253-9250. There is a $100 deposit for residential camps; a $20 deposit for day camps. These deposits will be fully reimbursed by NEPAS upon completed attendance to these camps.
